![]() Message from the President
Well, here we go again, and I hope it is third time lucky for the 2023 season because, as everyone knows, in my previous two years as President, in 2020 and 2021, we never set foot on a bowling green whatsoever! In 2023 we have a 16-match programme which has been carefully put together by our new Fixtures Secretary, Steve Woodruff, to whom I am especially grateful to for all of his hard work. As usual can I ask ALL bowlers from ALL of the bowls clubs to seriously consider making themselves available for as many of the matches as possible. We have a hardcore group of bowlers who always want to play for the County, and I am very grateful to these players for their support and dedication. However, it would be lovely to have 5 or 6 new players wanting to play in each and every game. May I also make the point that we are still struggling to fill all the positions on the City and County committee. So, if any person thinks that they may be able to help, in any way, then please come forward and speak to me, or any of the other Officers, and we will talk about it and we will be grateful for any offers of assistance. At the end of 2023 we will definitely be looking for a new Treasurer as Don Lindsay is standing down from the post. He has done the job for many years and in 2024 he will again be the City and County President. So hopefully in the coming season we will have someone coming forward saying they are interested in taking on the position. And finally, a very big thank you to Derek Severs for being President in 2022. He did a wonderful job and I hope that in 2023 I can do half a good a job as he did. Thank you again Derek! Let us look forward to a wonderful 2023 season and I look forward to seeing many new players on the green representing the City and County of Bristol! Have a good season everyone.
